Because I warned a fellow podcaster who is starting a show similar to mine

Because I warned a fellow podcaster who is starting a show similar to mine, not to use my work and research, Trolls have hacked my Facebook accounts, started a different Death In California fb page, flooded my site with 1 star reviews and have tried to getting my other accounts. When I track these people to block them, they turn out to be 15 year olds from New Brunswick or Ontario, Canada... Quite a few are from Nowhere England. Now I admit, I went old school punk on the podcaster. I'm pretty sure that I could have handled it better, but the podcaster was being coy with their answers, which, I admit pissed me off. It caused an avalanche of problems including my producer and co-host quitting. In this era when any yahoo can start a podcast and apparently everyone is a crime expert now, I'm finding that writers of crime are getting our work used all the time without credit. They can at least plug the book. This is like early Hip-hop, when the classic funk songs were sampled into songs and the artist were not credited or paid for its use. There are some cases where I am either the only person who has written about the crime, or I am one of three. It would be impossible to not use my work. Over the last 20 years I have spent weeks in libraries, subscribing to web newspaper archives, and pouring over what was accurate or inaccurate. I go through magnifying glasses like most people do toothbrushes. I doubt that most of these crime podcasters that just gab and talk about their underwear did not do any original research. They are stealing...

  1. The old hijacked one is titled “Death in California” and your new one is “Death in California Podcast,” right?

  2. At least you stood your ground and stood up for your rights. That’s yours fair and square. You put all the time in it. You hit a bump in the road. But that’s okay, you’ll get over it or around it! Just gotta have faith!
