The Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau took Wisconsin to a whole new level

The Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau took Wisconsin to a whole new level. They won the nation's highest honor in their field - the National Medal for Museum & Library Service! Out of 35,000 Museums, just two art museums were bestowed this honor. Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum is barrier-free & fully accessible, and they have programs for people with low vision & blindness to early & mid-stage memory loss. Talk about doing us proud. And if you can, the M.C. Escher exhibit only has a few more days up & it is brilliant. Check it out.

  1. Thanks to Wisconsin Department of Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett for visiting on May 23 to see the Escher exhibition and personally congratulate director Kathy Kelsey Foley and staff about the news released May 15: the Woodson Art Museum is receiving the nation’s highest museum honor – recognition by the Institute of Museum and Library Services as a 2017 National Medal winner.

  2. Always tell people about Leigh Yawkey, one of the true hidden gems in Wausau. If you love birds, or any form of wildlife, you will find extraordinary pieces there. Not just paintings either, sculptures and taxidermy too. Must go location!!
