#thestoryofcoachkate #sundaystories I've been a coach on and off for about 14 years. I started coaching tennis at the age of 17 to pay for my own tennis lessons #singleparentlife and when I found myself as a sophomore in college as a Sonic carhop and found out they were adding credit card machines....well this bright girl headed the 2 miles down the street to the nearest tennis club and never looked back ✌ I spent my sophomore through most of grad school helping kids, parents and grandparents fall in love with a sport that I only found through middle school pickle ball #thankscoachdraper . It was a great job that surrounded me with wonderful families that I'm still proud to call friends to this day! I took my studies seriously and graduated Mizzou with my masters in accounting and quickly passed all the parts of the CPA exam....during which I threw in my racquet and said, "I've got too much on my plate for tennis!" And ✌out from coaching for about 2 months until I couldn't stand it anymore!! I helped out with a local high school team for a couple of years and met some incredible families during that time and also managed to become an auditor at the biggest public accounting firm in Columbia, MO #MIZ I realized at about 1 year in auditing wasn't for me. I enjoy making people happy and when my presence was stressing them out it stressed me out....after almost 3 years there I resigned and made the leap to full time tennis coach through a local university During my time at the university I helped many kids and adults find their path through tennis. I helped them get into shape and find confidence in themselves as well as their bodies and it's abilities. Mostly though I found my true passion, teaching people what I am passionate about ✨ In 2015 I was faced with a few challenges and while working through those I found an opportunity to be an online accountability coach. I was looking for an identity outside of tennis but still in my wheel house and I thought this online coaching gig would be an easy outlet......not so much easy #butohsoworthit One of the challenges I faced in 2015 that led me to this opportunity was a struggling marriage and I wanted this to FIX IT! But what it did instead was help me find MY WORTH I left a marriage that wasn't good for either of us. I knew years before I should leave, even had the car packed up once, but NEVER had the GUTS to do what was best for me. Less than 2 years into online coaching I was able to find that inner confidence to live a life #solo. It's NOT been easy but it has been so FREEING and I'm so grateful for an opportunity that I thought was going to save a marriage that actually saved ME If you're nodding your head through this post....if you're thinking about the different chapters of your life that led you to your current situation that you just feel stuck in hit me up, I seriously know how you feel
